JTT - Jewelry Storage Ideas

Hey there!! Welcome to the newest feature on the Fae Imagination blog: Jewelry Tip Tuesday! This week, I am going to be giving you some different storage ideas for your jewelry! If you are anything like me, I know you have WAY more jewelry than you have storage for! So let's hop right to it!

Tip #1: Keep them visible!
I know from personal experience that if I put my jewelry in a box, on my dresser, I never see it and therefore, I never wear it! And if you never wear it, then what is the point in buying it, right?!?! So get them visible! (This is a project that I will be working on in the next few weeks, so I don't have my own pictures to share yet, but I will share them in my Friday Lifestyle segments once I get them done!) So here is what I am planning to do to get my necklaces visible: I'm going to invest in a couple corkboard and some thumbtacks! How cute is this idea? You can even personalize it any way that you want to! Staple fabric over the board to change the color or pattern or look entirely! Add crystals to the chain to make it sparkle. Create a border around the corkboards or add a frame! There are so many different ideas! Just google "corkboard jewelry organizer" and it will give you tons of ideas!!!

Tip #2 - Avoid Direct Sunlight
The majority of jewelry is made out of metal, especially if you are buying from The Fae Imagination. I use anodized aluminum for the majority of my items, along with Tibetan silver charms, and some unknown metals such as the pendant backings. The metal itself more than likely will not be damaged by direct sunlight, although the colors may fade a little. The images inside the pendants, however, are way more likely to fade if left in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. So if you choose to utilize tip #1, keep this in mind. Also, be careful of leaving jewelry lying in windows, in vehicles, or on counters with direct sunlight. Even if the images and colors don't fade, because of the nature of metal, leaving your items in direct sunlight may lead to burns. (Personal experience from a couple days ago, although it was with someone else's jewelry!! I left it laying on the dash of my truck and when I picked it up, I burnt the crap out of my hand! Ouch!)

Tip #3 - Hang Them Up
This one could be seen as a variant of tip #1, but this one makes me think of my closet space. My bedroom is small. And if I didn't have filing cabinets hidden in there, I would totally use this idea to hang my necklaces, bracelets, and anklets just inside the door. I believe they used a 1"x1" piece of wood to create the base, then attached decorative drawer pulls as the hooks! (In my kids' closet, we have a coat rack hanging on the open wall of the closet and I think that is why I think of the closet with this idea. Because this reminds me of their coat rack.) It could, of course, be displayed on any wall, but could also be attached inside cabinet doors (at the top, with enough clearance for the necklace lengths), on the back of interior doors, inside the closet, etc. Get creative with it!!

So there are my top 3 tips for jewelry storage!! Do you have more?! Feel free to put them in the comments below!!! Also, if you use any of these ideas, I would absolutely LOVE to see photos of what you've created!!

AND as an added bonus (because there is no such thing as too much jewelry), I wanted to let you know about the BOGO 25% off sale that is running on the Fae Imagination business page until August 1st at midnight!! 1. That sounds really cool!!! I can't even use the over the door hooks for like bathrobes if I want my door to shut. LOL So I never even thought about an over the door option! Thank you for that idea!!
